The Modern Masters Recipe System
The Lotus Concordia is a creative structure that allows our members, mentors, and constellations to work with each other, share information with users, and interact directly with the Modern Masters team. It has been formulated to meet the inefficiencies that result from our current market system and to uphold an empowering and immersive code of ethics in all interactions.
The Concordia structure is comprised of three connected elements.
A Lotus Seed is planted at the most basic level of activity. A “seed” can be issued from any member in the Modern Masters network. It’s distributed as a non-binding request to produce something. Seeds can be accepted by any number of people.
Example: A movie producer might issue a “seed” for members to film 1-minute clips of flying birds. The producer may then include any or all of these clips in his or her production.
All contributions that are created in response to a Seed have a default Creative Commons attribution and modification license. As a result, they may be utilized by anyone in the network.
Seed contributions are not finished products, rather they are modular productions that can be utilized and modified by anyone in the MM system. They’ll be cataloged for this purpose.
For purposes external to the MM network the issuer of the seed may request contributions with a more limited license. At a minimum, Modern Masters encourages the issuer to give attribution.
Recipes are collections of Seeds joined together to form an end-product. Those who wish to create something more complex than the smaller items associated with “seeds” establish contracts based on complete Recipes. These contracts can exist between any entities in the Modern Masters system.
Those who seek to complete a Recipe will offer a full proposal including an estimated timeline for the Recipe’s completion. Once the proposal is accepted, the agreement between the issuer and their contractor is binding.
Example: A video producer may issue a recipe for a complete video. This producer may include Seeds related to producing video roll, acting, editing and post-production. The producer can issue these Seeds himself or contract the entire Recipe to another user or users. The contractors would then have the option to split the Recipe into Seeds to be produced by MM collaborators or to simply produce a movie themselves.
Intellectual property is sorted out at the level of the Recipe. All contributions that are created in response to a Recipe may be utilized by anyone in the network with a CC attribution and modification license. All subsequently modified usages of the product are only to be posted within the Modern Masters network.
For purposes external to the MM network, the issuer may request contributions with a more limited license. We encourage the issuer to minimally grant attribution.
Any disagreements between the issuer and the contractor will be addressed within the Modern Masters network through arbitration.
Organons are large-scale or ongoing projects that are comprised of Recipes. The issuer of the Organon is responsible for breaking the Organon into Recipes that can be easily contracted and completed by Collaborators. For an additional fee, the MM team will provide project management services to ensure that the Recipe system will meet the Organon’s goals. Organon issuers may set licensing requirements for all downstream project elements.
